The Arctic : Eldorado or Curse?
A new « Great Game » is taking place in the Arctic. Climate change bears serious consequences that have important geostrategic and economic implications for the region. The Arctic is considered to conceal important commodities so that the interest for these resources and new maritime routes is increasing.
Mr. Michel ROCARD, Former Prime Minister of France and currently Ambassador in charge of the international negotiations on Arctic and Antarctic will present his views on this important topic.
The conference will be introduced by Charles Emmerson Senior Research Fellow, Chatham House
It will take place on Monday 15 October 2012 from 16.15 to 17.30 at the Palais d’Egmont, 8Bis, Place du Petit Sablon, 1000 Brussels.
The working languages will be French and English, with simultaneous translation
A reception will follow the conference.
